Botanical Wedding in Somis, California
Kimmy and Zach planned their nuptials at a lush botanical garden just outside of Los Angeles, near where the newlyweds grew up. Their wedding, elegantly appointed with modern details and surrounded by lush, tropical greenery, evoked warmth and a sense of the exotic. The couple knew they wanted to say their “I do’s” beneath a forest canopy. Hartley Botanica, a magical gem hidden in the back farm roads of Somis, California provided the perfect destination.
For their wedding, Kimmy and Zach wanted a classic design with modern touches that would compliment the natural beauty of the space. They chose a neutral color palette with bridesmaids in soft blush gowns, and groomsmen in classic black tie attire. The couple opted to incorporate refined black and natural wood details and signage with the pops of contrasting gold throughout the venue.
For Kimmy and Zach, it was paramount that their wedding day incorporate their close friends, family, and personal interests. Both attended college nearby, so the location was familiar and felt like home for the couple. The close proximity of the venue allowed their family and close friends, many of whom they’ve known since childhood, to be present for their big day. The couple incorporated other personal touches including signature cocktails inspired by their new puppy and personal gifts for their guests. An elegant cigar bar with whiskey tasting station was an added personal touch by the Groom, who wanted a social activity he enjoys incorporated in the big day. The Bride’s craftsmanship was highlighted with a handmade donut wall filled with her favorite treats, displayed next to a donut-inspired wedding cake.
The couple struck a delicate balance between the traditional and personal, intimate and celebratory. For example, Kimmy and Zach opted to have their first look during the ceremony, with traditional parent dances at their reception and a grand exit. However, they added a personal and modern take on these traditions by selecting a close friend to officiate the ceremony, incorporating a Mother and Daughter dance in their reception, and a luminous sparkler send-off with the Bride in a beaded jean jacket. Kimmy and Zach found ways to incorporate intimate and personal moments as well, for example, choosing to read their vows privately which provided a quiet and poignant moment for each during the busy day.
