Celestial Celebration at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley, California
We had the incredible honor of capturing the beautiful union of Ani and Shaunt. Surrounded by historic charm and the stunning landscape of Hummingbird Nest Ranch, Ani and Shaunt’s wedding, which incorporated traditional Armenian traditions, unfolded like a fairytale.
A Fairytale First Look
Ani's journey to "I do" began at the enchanting Sitting Bull at Hummingbird Nest Ranch, a historic ranch house boasting original Spanish colonial architecture, a private pool, and lush gardens. The anticipation in the air was palpable as Ani slipped into her breathtaking white off-the-shoulder mermaid gown, radiating elegance and grace. Meanwhile, Shaunt looked every bit the dashing groom in a classic tuxedo with a white jacket as he got ready with his friends and family at one of the on-site townhouses.
The magic began with the first look, set against the backdrop of the private Sitting Bull carriage courtyard. Towering trees overhead provided a natural canopy, filtering sunlight to create a dappled and dreamy atmosphere. It was a moment of pure emotion and connection, a prelude to the love that would be celebrated throughout the day. From there, we took the opportunity to photograph some stunning portraits with the couple and a vintage Mercedes the couple would later drive to and from the ceremony.
An Armenian Wedding where Tradition Meets Modern
Following the first look, Ani and Shaunt were wed in a traditional Armenian ceremony at a nearby Church. The rich Armenian traditions added a unique and meaningful touch to their union, creating memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. The couple then returned to the Hummingbird Nest Ranch, where the festivities continued.
The Lake Lawn at Hummingbird Nest Ranch served as a picturesque setting for the reception, with the majestic mountains standing as witnesses to the couple's love story. A live jazz band serenaded the guests during cocktail hour, as champagne flowed and delectable appetizers were passed around, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.
The reception decor was a visual feast, with lush hues of blush and orange creating an atmosphere of romance and celebration. The tables were set with Armenian foods and bottles of wine and liquor for their guests to enjoy. A massive clear-top tent overlooking the lake was adorned with thousands of string lights hung from the ceiling, casting a warm glow reminiscent of a starry night sky. It was a scene straight out of a fairy tale, with each detail carefully curated to enhance the magic of the moment.
Adding to the festivities were several Armenian traditions, including dances that filled the night with energy and joy. A special performance by Vatche, a renowned Armenian musician, added an extra layer of cultural richness to the celebration, creating a truly immersive experience for the couple and their guests.
Film Photography: Capturing Memories that will become Heirlooms
The bride and groom wanted to add a special, bespoke touch to their wedding photography and opted to incorporate film as part of their special day. We’re proud to offer hybrid film and digital photography to couples who desire something a little special in their wedding photography. The images created using our film cameras are wonderful, and beautifully capture the emotion of the day, fitting for one of the most important events in a couple’s life.
